    Democratic Schools – a possible answer  

I have been engaged in an intensive search for ways of improving learning opportunities for many years. This includes a great deal of research into the causes of stress in school, fear of school, blockages, ADHS and school refusal.

At one point on this journey I came into contact with the Sudbury Model (free, democratic schools). The effect was electrifying. I was very soon convinced of the model’s combination of simplicity and effectiveness and I found myself diving in at the deep end. The result has been a radical renewal of my own concept of school and a ‘hundred percent’ commitment to the democratic school movement which is gathering momentum throughout the world.
